Question

Rush 'auto-crops' imported video file

I'm recording tutorials (screencasts) on how to search an article database.

After importing the screencast into Rush, I learned that Rush 'cropped' the left side of the video (!)
Frustrating, when there is an essential menu to the left in my tutorial 😉

I've tried saving the original video (a screencast) in different ratios but with no avail.

Please - what have I done wrong?

Hi there @Mette G.30319794kwwr,

Thanks for your post. You report that the left side of your screen recording is cropped. I can see that. I appreciate the screenshots.

The issue is that the sequence size and the aspect ratio of your recording does not match, so you have to take action. What I would suggest is to scale the screen recording down a bit with the Transform Tool > Scale so that the left side of it comes into view. Now, because of the aspect ratio issue, you will have "black bars" at the top and bottom of the screen. That is the nature of the beast, I'm afraid. Can you live with that limitation? In Premiere Pro, you have more options to address this by creating a custom sequence size, but in Rush, that is not possible. Sorry.

If the advice here does not help, please feel free to reach out for one-to-one support here. The chat pod is in the lower-right corner. Ask for the "video queue." Let us know what they say.

Thanks,
Kevin

it would be best if Rush did not auto crop the video file. as i close the program I can see it returns it to its actual proportions, but the auto cropping makes this software not usable for me. A bit disappointed.
