Question

Rush for iOS hangs on export, eats memory

Is this app deprecated? Six months since an update and still experiencing hangs on exports at 99% or 100% about two thirds of the time (20+ restarts tonight to cut six shorts on the 2023 iPad Pro 1TB), and there's an obvious memory leak that eats up system storage until you have to delete and reinstall. Using the most recent version.

Hi @adamgoldsteinesq,

Thanks for the message. I'm Kevin from support. I'm sorry the product team has not responded here. It is a user-to-user forum. Thanks for the message, and welcome to the forum. Does the same thing happen when shooting H.264 instead of HEVC? In iOS camera settings, try "most compatible" mode and report back. Sorry for the frustration. Take care.

Thanks,
Kevin

Howdy! It took me until this long for the freeze to repeat itself (like going to the doctor, of course it doesn't hurt while you're there, heh). Screenshot below... I'm working with screen recordings so they're all H.264. Don't think camera settings apply to screen recordings?

Screen recordings of game streams are not viable because of the variable frame rate issue. So, I would wager that the problem is the footage, not Rush.

Transcoding streaming video footage is always a good move before editing it. Many gamers use the freeware Shutter Encoder to work around that. You will receive a slight hit in quality, but it's barely perceptible.

Try it and report back.

Cheers,
Kevin

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
