Question

Rush freezes, lags and does not save

I have recently downloaded Rush on windows 10. The computer meets all the requirements listed and is up to date. Rush is constantly freezing, extremely laggy, and does not save changes.

I have seen these issues brought up in the community, but cannot find any answers. It makes it almost impossible to actually edit anything. I have the playback quality on low and have set it to pre-render sequences.

In the video I'm currently editing, there is about 3 minutes of footage. When I add a larger video file (let's say 6 minutes long) for the purpose of editing it down into usable clips, it bogs down Rush dramatically. If this were the only issue, and it only lasted a few minutes, I could handle it.

Audio will un-sync from video and become laggy. (And when the video is saved, it is still laggy in the final version.) Clips will not move when I attempt to drag them. Menus will not open. Slider bars will not slide. This gets worse and worse until I leave it alone for 10+ minutes to unfreeze, then I close the project and restart my computer. Upon reopening, video clips, title slides, and some fine tuning details such as speed or volume control have been deleted- even if they were not the last thing that I was working on.

Any help is appreciated

Nurse PadMe,

Is this camcorder footage or footage that came from a streaming video software program, like OBS? If the latter, can you try ripping the footage in Handbrake first? It may have to do with a bug that has to do with large Long GOP VFR files, which streaming video software is rather famous for. The workaround would be to either transcode using Handbrake or record the footage using a hardware device, like Elgato or the like.

Cheers,
Kevin

Kevin,

Thank you for the reply.

The footage was taken using a Pixel 2 phone. I haven't used the software in a few days but recently tried it again. The problems seem worse and the fotoage is having extreme lag between video/audio. I am installing on a differnet computer to see if that changes anything.

UPDATE: New install has the exact same problems. I have no idea how this program can be useable.

Wow, I'm sorry to read this. I'd be happy to investigate this on our end, thank you so much for taking the time to write this out.

What would help me is if you could share one of these Pixel 2 clips so that I can see how it acts on different devices. Would you be willing to upload one of these clips for us to test with? You could upload it to a share service like Google Drive or Dropbox and share the link here, or send me a private message here on the community.

Talk soon,

Caroline
