Rush freezes when starting a new project

A couple of days ago the program started to freeze when I start a new project. It will open a new project, but when I choose a file to begin the program says "preparing media" and is frozen. I have to do a force quit and then reopen to start building the video. I'm running on MacOS Monterey v12.6. Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

This is also now occurring for me, and I am an avid user of Rush. Can open the program, but if i click on create a new project (or file/create project) it freezes then program closes.

There are some troubleshooting tips for Premiere Pro (as opposed to Rush), but you could see if any of them help--especially reinstalling Premiere Rush:
