Rush rendering issue iPhone

Im having issues with rendered videos. Portions of the video will render and export fine, but snippets will just have a black screen with only audio, then video and audio come back at the end. The app doesn't have much flexibility to it but I've tried rendering at smaller file sizes with lower quality - no help. 

any thoughts?
