Significant drop in resolution after rendering

Hi there,

 

I'm new to Premiere Rush and just rendered my first video for export. I'm using version 1.5.62 because that's the latest version I could get on my 2014 MacBook Pro running OS X Mojave.

 

The issue I'm having is that the resolution of my video is very poor after exporting. I filmed my videos in 4K, and had initially imported them as 4K clips. After realizing my computer couldn't handle that very well, I downscaled all of my clips to 1080p.

 

After completing editing my project (which took probably 12+ hours), I rendered my video at 1080p. After watching back, I immediately noticed the resolution was very poor compared to the original clips, so I used YouTube 1080p preset because it has the highest bitrate. Still looked bad. Then I figured, ok, maybe my project resolution is set too high. I then did a Google search and read that you cannot manually set the project resolution in Premiere Rush, and that it is automatically determined by either A) the first clip you add or B) the highest resolution clip you add to your project. Is this true?

 

I then tried exporting in 4K, and everything looked good again, the resolution was back. But for some reason, Premiere Rush could not properly render some clips in my video, and now I am completely stuck. I find it very frustrating that we cannot adjust the resolution of our project in Premiere Rush. If my project is stuck at 4K and my clips are 1080p, then I have to re-edit my video all over again. Please help, Adobe!

I've just got this garbage as a free trial (thankfully) with my drone, and have noticed on here the same questions regarding rendered video from Jan 2021. Which tells me Adobe have no interest in fixing whatever the actual issue is.

Been online with a "Tech" who wanted access to my computer to fix the issue, ha, no chance. If the supposed "Tech" could fix it, why is the solution not available for everybody?

 

I have, however, found a simple solution.

1. Uninstall Adobe products,

2. Search the internet,

3. Install a much better product that actually works.

4. Happy video editing

 

Just for info, although it takes a bit more time to make a video, Windows Movie Maker from a few years ago works just fine.

Just an addition to my post above,.

Recieved an email saying I've earned my first badge for posting on here.

I think I see Adobes problem, they're more interested in sending people badges than fixing actual issues. Abolutely pathetic.

I'm not sure if you saw that there's an Advanced Settings section in the Share > Settings area for your initial local render?

You can adjust Resolution, Frame Rate, Audio Channels, and Quality. The first time I rendered a 4K project and uploaded to YouTube, I didn't realize that the first pass (initial upload) was the SD version, and a short time later, the full HD high resolution version was visible after YouTube finished processing. Is it possible that your video render hadn't fully completed?

Thank you for the reply! I saved my render to my local drive, so it's not that.

 

What had happened was because my first clip I had initially imported into my project was 4K, Premiere Rush then automatically set the project resolution to 4K. The problem is, it does not give you any indication of this, nor can you manually override it. This is a huge oversight by Adobe developers in my opinion. Because of rendering issues, I ultimately re-imported all of my clips as 1080p and proceeded to edit my video. The project, though, was still set to 4K, meaning my 1080p clips were upscaled 4x without me knowing. This was extremely evident even when I did a 1080p export.

 

So, I had to redo editing my entire project by making sure to import 1080p clips first. Only then did the final render at 1080p look good. But of course, my final render had a bunch of flickering/dropped frames, so I finally said screw it and downloaded Premiere Pro which was able to render my project properly.
