Question

Synching is terrible!

Does anyone else find the synching between mobile and laptop/desktop absolutely terrible?

One of the major reasons this app should be great is the ease at which you should be able to switch from mobile to desktop...

But I find it really unreliable. I just created a project on my phone, no sign of it on laptop - no obvious place on phone to check if it's synched.

I logged out and in again on both deveice. Now my laptop displays the projects... but the video files are missing. Meanwhile on my phone all my projects disappeared.

So frustrating that an app supposed to speed up my workflow is now taking up all this time troubleshooting and getting on to support (who haven't resolved it yet).

Right now, I just want to know whether this is just a problem at my end, or if others are tearing their hair out too?

Sorry about that, Frank. How much time have you given the synching process to function? It can take a lot more time than you may have planned for, especially if you are shooting 4K. Can we get any more details about your source footage, the length of your sequence, and the kinds of effects you may have added from you so we can help?

Thanks,
Kevin

So an update on this...

The latest issue was with a 30 second clip shot on my phone. Only editing I had done was basic cuts. I created the project yesterday, and after an hour it hadn't synched.

However... yesterday support encouraged me to sign out and sign back in on laptop and phone.

When I did, none of my projects were on my phone. The project was now on my laptop, but the video files were missing.

Today, I opened Rush again to see what was going on now - projects loaded on my phone again, and I could synch the missing project and it finally appeared on both devices, with video files.

Which is great, but I frequently have these kinds of issues with Rush.

So instead of speeding up my workflow by making it easy to switch between phone and laptop, I spend ages troubleshooting.

I'd be faster ignoring Rush on my phone, manually downloading to my laptop, and only editing there. Which is a real shame - it's theoretically great to start projects while on the go.

Hi Frank,

Sorry about that. I noticed that my projects took a long time to sync too, however, they are in 4K. It is confusing and I empathize with your situation.

I am updating my internet connection and think syncing could be faster after that gets installed. Do you have high speed internet? How is the connection speed in the location where the computer and phone are picking up wi-fi? I think super fast internet can help a lot when syncing. I'll ask engineering if there is another possibility as to increasing sync speed. For sure 4K video takes a lot longer than HD.

Thanks,

Kevin

It has been awhile since I asked the same question.   I did not find any settings or changes that made syncronization work better.  It helped if I used low video resolution settings on my phone.

I think I figured out the Rush works really well if you are trying to get a quick clip or two to social media.  If  let it grow into a bigger project,  it became clear that Premier Pro or Premiere Elements worked better in a more tradional workflow.   It may be that we will need speedier 5g cell connections for this to work.

Thank you - good to know I'm not the only one anyway. So much for "syncing on Premiere Rush is seamless across all devices." 😔
