I'm importing video clips shot on the DJI MIMO app and the lip sync is several frames off. Suggestions or advice?

Hey @jasonv16538665

I heard about your troubles. Which device did you shoot with? Video from mobile devices can have a variable frame rate. Variable frame rates that are too far from the norm can cause audio/video sync problems with Rush and Premiere Pro. That may be at the heart of the problem. Are you working with Rush mobile or on the desktop? If on the desktop, I can recommend that you transcode the footage in Shutter Encoder, which is a free app you can download. Then, import that into Rush for the edit. You can save as .mp4, or, even better, to ProRes LT. Any other info you can offer us? I hope the community can help.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Thanks for the reply but I don't think that's the issue. The device is a
Samsung s21. The video from the native camera works with Rush just fine,
but the video shot using the DJI mimo app that's combined with the osmo
gimbal comes out with a lip sync about one second behind in the app, but
works fine in other apps. I checked and it's 1080p video with 30 frames per
second so not sure what could be messing it up.

Thanks for any further advice.

Thanks for the reply and added info, Jason. Hope you are well and happy Friday!

I can understand the frustration, especially when apps from the native camera work fine. It's weird! Are these editing apps or player apps that you are referring to where lip sync is fine? Player apps often can handle variable frame rate playback, but editing apps cannot. Can you test out a clip that has been transcoded via Shutter Encoder? Sorry for the hassle, but that test should shed a great deal of light on your situation. Hope to assist. I also hope other community members with the same setup might chime in.

Thanks,
Kevin
