Question

Unable to trim clips

I'm evaluating Rush at the moment, but I've run into a critical show stopper. Rush appears unable to trim clips of a certain length -- but I can't find what that minimum length is.

For example, I have a clip consisting of 5 clips:

Clip 1 = 6 seconds long

Clip 2 = 15 seconds long

Clip 3 = 90 seconds long

Clip 4 = 4 seconds long

Clip 5 = 100 seconds long

I am only able to trim clips 2, 3, and 5. Clips 1 and 4 don't show the orange handles, and I can't find any documentation of keyboard shortcuts to use. I see numerous other users posting the same issue without any replies.

I can't believe Rush is incapable of trimming clips under xx seconds, but that seems to be the case. I can't find this documented anywhere.

I thin its a bug.  Sometimes I can't trim clips that are speed adjusted, but it I put the speed back to 100% and then adjust it again, and I am able to trim.  For example: Clip was sped up 144%, unable to trim.  Set speed to 100%, then back to 144%, and I was able to trim.

I did a little more digging and stretched out the clip using the speed function. Rush can not trim clips shorter than 10 seconds. Presumably this is due to the UI, since the orange bars overlap with anything shorter.

Surely Adobe can figure out how to trim video ... right?

Hi @Dave30329148gcrk,

Thanks for the post. You say that you can't trim clips that have been speed affected to less than ten seconds. Do I have that right?

I just created a new project and slowed down a clip using the speed function and was able to trim it. I don't know why you are experiencing something different. Have you tried zooming in to the clip on the Timeline using the "+" key? What kind of system are you working on? Is it a Mac, a PC, or a mobile device? More info might help.

I hope either they or the community can be of more assistance. What you are experiencing surely isn't right! I apologize for this frustrating situation.

Cheers,
Kevin
