GEO-Augmenting Indoors

I took the time today to try to Geo Augment a local shops indoor facilities.
I thought that if you knew the general layout, and even though you cannot see inside the building from the 3d map, you could place items and them move them around as needed.  This WOULD BE MASSIVE as one code would allow a person to walk in the store and see everything playing out in front of them without the need for self placement, which would not work.

It was a no go.  Nothing showed up inside the building, no matter the model large or small.  In fact, we finally found a model floating and it acted as if it didnt know where it was supposed to be......kinda like if a real object was in front of a augmented, the augmented will take on a mind of its own.

Anyone else try indoor augmenting using GEO?  How do you think this will play out in the future.

Boy this would be nice!  But alas, this is impossible.  Googel Geospatial Creator is  VISUAL positioning system.  Meaning when you localize with your camera it is determining where you are based on what your camera is seeing.  It is reference that against the Google Earth and Cesium 3D tiles IMAGERY.  So since GGC does not have any record of indoor spaces (or things that the satellites etc) can not see, it can't figure out where you are.  The only way to potentially do this was to create a photo sphere of the target environment.  But there is no longer a way to upload photo spheres.  And based on my experience with GGC, it does not include photo sphere imagery in its database anyway.  Hopefully this will be included in the future.  If you want to do an indoor space, suggest you look into 8th Wall using the Lightship or Immersal VPS, Snap (Len Studio Landmarker Lenses), Augmented City's VPS system.  These VPS system rely on you scannning the target environment and use that as the localization reference.

Wanted to say thanks for this explanation, I've been digging around to better understand what geospatial creator generally expects from a user in order to deliver an AR experience, and info is few and far between. Your explanation however was very easy to grasp, thank you @julia_gmail
