Lighting and transparent materials in Adobe Aero

Hi I'm Andi, a 3D-artist based in Munich. I recently started experimenting with Adobe Aero and imported some assets from Cinema 4D. So far I haven't found a way to make transparent materials like glass to appear correctly in Aero. Is there a way to make this work? Most of the other Redshift materials I've used work great so far, unless there are some more complicated nodes involved.

Another question that came up if there is a way to add lighting in Aero or does it just work with baked lighting? Would be great if there is a way so that the model catches the light and reflections of the environment. Is that something that's on the roadmap?

Thanks for any kind of help.

Just wanted to check is there was any progress on this matter. Did the Discord Channel help out?

Hey Andres, not that I know. I haven't been following this topic for a while as I couldn't find any solution.

Hi, I just used a basic material with its alpha set to .5, and the object shows up transparent. I exported a .glb file from Blender, and it works. Does it look like glass? Nope, it looks like a ghost material. I will attempt a map in the alpha channel to see if that works.

There is currently no way to add lights/lighting in AERO. So baking it in is the only option.   Re: glass texture.  I agree this is a challenge in aero. If you are on the AERO discord channel you may want to pose your question there.  Some folks have had success with glass/transparency.

Thank you for sharing this. I just looked everywhere to find out why the glas texture from cinema 4d  didn't work in aero. You just saved me from spending even more hours on this. Now I know it's not a me problem I guess.

I just came here with these exact same questions. Glass texture is what I exclusively use 3D for at work, and the lighting just doesn't look right. Very dull, like translucent gray plastic. Does anyone have tips to get nice clear glass with good light reflections? Thanks kindly

Hey Mark, happy to hear that I'm not the only one struggling. Not sure if this question will ever be answere here though 😉
