What criteria is required for the "back and forth" box to be available ?

I wanted the item to move back and forth but that option box is greyed out. I could not find any details on this behaviour.

The same issue happens with scale with a simple object. Back and forth is greyed out still. What is the fix for this?

Bumping this bc I am having the same issue and cannot find any solutions with google.

to enable "back and forth option you have to change paly count should be 2 instead of 1
