Question

2026 Acrobat defaults to RGB in Output Preview when viewing a CMYK File.

When I open our print PDFs in Acrobat and go to check values, Output Preview always showed CMYK using the Color Settings CMYK Profile. Now it shows up as RGB in Output Preview.
How can I get Output Preview to open showing the color channels that are in the file?

What happens if you change your Simulation Profile to your CMYK profile? You are basically telling Acrobat you want to see the RGB breakdown of your colors.

Yes, I can select the Simulation but I never had to before. This is new to me.

Basically, Acrobat is deciding that it wants to show me RGB values of a CMYK file. Something that I’m not interested in.

We print using CMYK PDFs exported out of Indesign(usually) with no profiles attached. Acrobat used to show me the CMYK profile that was set up in color management in Preferences. It no longer does that.

Not sure why yours came up in RGB, but mine defaulted to CMYK (as usual).
