Adobe is the Spirit Airlines of tech companies, what a shame. Charge me at monthly rates just so I can use decade old technology to edit a PDF and a cancellation fee of $30, for what? Is this a condo where you'll need that 2 months of payment while finding another tenant?

Usually it's more than $30. It's half the remaining year, you signed up and agreed to pay for the whole year, but Adobe generously allow early cancellation with a 50% discount. If you want to cancel without a fee, you need to take out a month-by-month plan, rather than the heavily discounted annual plans.
