About 2 weeks ago my Acrobat DC 2015 Pro stopped recognizing .xps files. I cannot open an .xps file nor can I include an .xps file when building a PDF. Why?

About 2 weeks ago my Acrobat DC 2015 Pro stopped recognizing .xps files. I cannot open an .xps file nor can I include an .xps file when building a PDF. Why? Any help would be greatly appreciated as sometimes I am provided with an .xps file that I need to include in a larger PDF file I am building.

The referenced thread provides a pointer to Unable to convert XPS files to PDFs  which provides instructions on how to re-enable this feature.

Adobe disabled the support for XPS files in a recent update and didn't notify anyone about it, for some reason...
