Thank you for reaching out. It can be that the document was shared with you, and the person who shared the document has closed the sharing of the document. Also, this can be possible if the file was located on a mapped network drive or cloud drive, and there has been a change in permissions.
Is this happening with all the files? If you know the location of the file, you may try manually opening the file in another app like Google Chrome or Preview, in case of Mac.
