Accessible pdfs and changing white text to black in reflow mode

I am making a 100 page long document into an accessible pdf I do 99% of the work in InDesign. One of my checks in Acrobat is checking how it looks if someone has to use reflow mode, some of the text in my accessible pdf is white text on a coloured background and I don't want to change it in the original document because all the table headings are white text on red and there are about 50 tables in this booklet. I have checked for colour contrast so it is okay in normal view. When I go to the accessible preferences in Acrobat DC and try to change to black text on white background it does not change the text to black it stays white on white. It worked in all previous versions of acrobat, it is not working since I upgraded to Acrobat DC 2017 Version 2017.009.20044. Is this some sort of corruption, I have tried turning all features on and off no option will give me black text on white.
