Acrobat 8 Activation issue [Acrobat 8 is dead]

I have Acrobat 8 Standard which I installed and then tried to activate unsuccessfully but got the error message that there is no Internet connection. I then called support to get this resolved and they gave me a link to download Acrobat 9 and to use the same serial number as for my Acrobat 8. However, when I install Acrobat 9 using the Acrobat 8 serial number, I get the Invalid Serial Number error. The support has asked me to post this issue on this forum for getting any further help on this. Any assistance on this issue will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Whoever in Adobe Customer Support gave you a link for Acrobat 9, told you to use your old serial number for Acrobat 8 to install and activate it, and then sent you here gave you really wrong information.

You can't activate Acrobat 9 with an Acrobat 8 serial number. It simply won't work! Furthermore, there is no one on these forums who can assist you with these issues. This is not Adobe Customer Support, but mostly other users. No one in Adobe Customer Support is ever supposed to refer customers to these forums for licensing, activation, etc. issues.

Please call Adobe Customer Support back and immediately ask for a supervisor who can better assist you.
