Question

Acrobat closes bookmarks panel when signing in

Hello,

Within the last couple of months my desktop Adobe Acrobat Pro has begun displaying then closing the bookmarks panel all by itself, and I can’t find the setting to change this behavior. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I have many PDFs that are set to display the bookmarks panel on open (Document Properties > Initial View > Bookmarks Panel and Page). When Acrobat is closed and I open one of these PDFs, the bookmarks panel initially displays. It takes Acrobat about 3.5 seconds to sign in to my account (upper right of the screen), and when it signs in, it closes the bookmarks panel. If Acrobat is already open, new PDFs will display the bookmarks panel and not close. So it seems signing into to my account closes the bookmarks panel.

I’ve searched the community posts, Reddit, etc. without finding a similar situation. “Hide after use” is not turned on, I get the same results with and without “Restore last view settings when reopening documents” (Preferences > Documents), I have pinned and unpinned bookmarks (right click on the pane) I have changed the default layout settings (Preferences > Page Display) to no effect, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat, deleted the stored Windows Credentials for Adobe then restarted and singed in again, and rebuilt the Adobe sign-in cashe.

I’d be happy with the bookmarks panel not opening by itself at all or opening and staying open, it just creates inefficiency when I’ve scrolled down and almost chosen a bookmark and then the panel disappears.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

@Michael32370389wk1u Have you tried ‘Disable new Acrobat,’ I havent had your Bookmark issue at all as I have found the new Acrobat interface has too many issues (read too many!). View - Disable new Acrobat
