Acrobat continually 'suggests' I try new features. Even after I dismiss the nag, it comes back again and again.

I do not EVER want to be notified about, nor have a feature 'suggested'. It slows down and interrupts my workflow, and is not AT ALL helpful. Whoever decided this was a good idea needs a swift kick to the family jewels.

How do I stop the pain...?

I completely agree, but unfortunately nobody knows how to stop these notifications.

Even experts and even the Adobe staff of this forum.

I was hoping I was just missing a setting somewhere. Software companies irritating their paying customer base... you've got to wonder who's the idiot running things.
