Acrobat DC crashes MAC 10.13 High Sierra or higher

Acrobat DC (Version 19.10.20069) crashes when opening any pdf file via finder (double-click or via menu). Sometimes only the program crashes but sometimes it even cuts of the connection to the server. This problem occurs after updating to MAC OS High Sierra on several iMacs, Mac Pro, even on a completely new iMAC wit MAC OS Mojave. Sometimes it works without problems but sometimes the problem occurs every time opening a pdf-file. Can anybody help? Because this is really annoying!

Hi Ankep,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Please try once the troubleshooting steps mentioned here Troubleshoot Mac OS 10.x system errors, freezes | Adobe software

Try once to reset the preferences of the application using the steps mentioned here How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Check if that helps.

As the issue started occurring after updating the Mac OS, I would suggest removing the application using the cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and then re-install the application Download and install Acrobat DC subscription

Check if that helps.

If the issue still persists, please let us know.

Regards,

Meenakshi

The Links to the cleanup-Tool is broken.
New since last UpBug! If I try to open an Acrobat-Pdf via doubleclick form server. Acrobat disconnect the server nd crashes the Finder and every other program. Just a hard restarts help than. Damn it. Thats completly new since the last f... update. Well ones more a new bug in a long history of bugs in so many programs from Adobe this year!!!! Friendly features delivered at Adobe. To keep your ateition!

Sorry but I am left with nothing but my gallows humor. Otherwise I would vomit non-stop.

I can't remember the last time I uninstalled so many updates and wasted time restoring my preferences.
And I've been working with Adobe since CS1! Was always a fan until now. But it's getting really hard and a test of patience.

Turning off Java eliminated the freezing issues immediately and Acrobat DC is working as expected.

All the other methods above didn't solve the issue for me.

Running 10.14.6 on a 2018 MacBook Pro.

I was experiencing Acrobat DC version 20.006.20034 crashing on my iMac running mac OS High Sierra.  Additionally, I had issues with Adobe Bridge 2020 crashing and Adobe Lightroom notifying me of folder permission issues on core Adobe system folders.  All issues were corrected after I ran the Adobe LightroomCorrectPermission.sh file found in "Solution 3: Use a script to restore permissions" on this Adobe website: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/user-permissions-issues.html.  Even if Lightroom isn't installed on your system, running the script should repair all read/write permission issues with the "Documents/Adobe/" "Library/Preferences/Adobe/" "Library/Caches/Adobe/" and "Library/Application Support/Adobe/" folders required by Adobe Acrobat DC and other applications.  Good luck.

My old Acrobat was crashing a lot, but I solved the problem by disabling Javascript in the Preferences.

On Mac OS 13.6, following Security Update 2019-007, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 1902120058 continually crashes upon opening. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 (not subscription) on same home page. Trashing, restarting computer and reopening DC still causes immediate crash of the app.

Can I use the older AdobeAcroCleaner tool to remove the free Adobe Acrobat Reader DC WITHOUT trashing the paid Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017?

Please note that the MacOS in the question above concerning the immediate crash of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is 10.13.6 (High Sierra.) The issue is whether the older AdobeAcroCleaner tool will remove the paid Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 which is on the same homepage as well.
