Question

Acrobat DC Pro beachballing and crashing

Has anyone had this experience: Acrobat DC Pro beachballing and crashing? It began a week ago. Using the latest release and latest MacOS. It is very unstable, for the first time in my experience; it hangs, and either quits (force quits) or I have to force quit it, losing document changes in the process.

I am not using the new ("modern"?) layout, and perhaps that is the problem. I don't like the new layout; it has sacrificed too much functionality to be useful (and was rolled out as an imperfect beta, from what engineers said).

This is happening in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat in our environment as well. Started in the last month. I've got a Ryzen 7 with 40 GB of RAM. Windows 11. Even a freshly imaged device with Adobe will freeze and become unresponsive simply by opening the application.

Hi @defaulthkcncrw0fj82

Sorry for the trouble.
Would you help us with the logs: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html. You can directly upload the logs using the tool mentioned on this help page,

Also, please help us with the dump file: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/collect-logs-crash-freeze.html

here, you can zip the logs and upload them to any Cloud Drive and share with us a public link to download them. These logs will help us identify the root cause for Windows.

Thanks, Tariq.

I continue to have problems with beachballing in Modern acrobat. I've shared logs multiple times over the past few months. The worst is when 2+ PDFS are open and I try to resize windows. feels like a caching problem?

Same here. It is beachballing and crashing in either the old or the new UI. It may be worse when I have over 4 documents open at once. I hope Adobe engineers can reproduce and fixt this bug.

@JIPNET I am using the latest Acrobat on a MacBook Pro

I am using the 'New Acrobat' but not using the 'AI Assistant'

Try 'Enable new Acrobat,' and Disable Mockup Beta (AI Assistant) too

Will try. Is there a anything like the floating ribbon that could be made to show icons for first/last page and zoom fractions? The lower side panel is not very robust.

side panels cannot be customized either
