Acrobat_DC_Set-Up Crashing on Windows 2012 R2

I've just bought an annual subscription to Acrobat Pro and when I try to install it on my OS,  the setup immediately crashed with the error below.  Anyone any suggestions ?

 

Adobe installer has stopped working.

Well for the 'Creative Cloud' the OS list further in only seems to support one Windows OS [Windows 10 64 bit 1903 or later] see link here.

I'm currently running Acrobat Reader DC [latest version] on Windows Server 2012 R2 via an RDP connection.  It asked me to upgrade via a free trial [albeit taking my credit card details] to Acrobat Pro DC [which is all I want to use].  There was no mention of any system requirements other than those on the link below... and Windows Server 2012 R2 is on that list.  Surprised it's invited me to upgrade from within the desktop app [not anything on line] and then crashed when I try to install it ?
