Acrobat Distiller Progress Bar no longer works

Since upgrading to CC a couple of years ago I've noticed that the progress bar in Distiller no longer functions.

 

Progress always sits resolutley at Status: Ready / 0%, regardless of the size of the job to be processed.

 

 

Reading the log just isn't doing it for me - why can't there be some kind of obvious visual feed back within Distiller that your job is processing?

    Hi there! The problem persists. I had to migrate from PC to Mac (mini M4 pro) in January 2025. While on PC the progress bar was working, on Mac the progress bar is inactive. The workaround with enlarging the window works, though.

    Sorry for the troubled experience. 
    Sadly, the issue is not reproducible at our end. If you are still experiencing the issue, would you please help us with the following: 

    - Acrobat version installed: https://adobe.ly/3PQQ7nE

    - OS name and version.

    - A small screen recording showing the problem. 

     

    Please help us with the above-requested information and will report this to the product team to get this fixed.

    Tariq,

    Are you trying to distill a postscript file using Acrobat Distiller on the Mac? It is just as everyone has mentioned. When Distiller is working the progress bar does not move or tell you what percentage the file is at. It works on Windows machines but not on Macintosh machines. Funny how you can't reproduce the issue when everyone is having the issue.

     

    Not that this matters... Acrobat version 2023.003.20284 / OS name and version Monterey 12.7.6. Another employee that I work with is running Acrobat 2024... and have the latest version of Mac 15.3 Sequoia and it does the same thing on their machines.

    So a co-worker of mine figured out that if you grab the bottom right corner of the distiller window and enlarge or reduce the window size the progress bar shows up. However, you have to keep adjusting the window for it to stay current. Seems like the distiller window isn't refreshing to keep it current.

      Thank you Brian21758974fksn for your response and the tip! At least you can see the progress even though you have to keep adjusting the window. This should be a small task for Adobe to fix especially since the software is so costly.

      Just had another co-worker try distilling a ps file on a PC and the progress bar worked without any issues. Seems like it is only on the Mac end. As far as Adobe fixing it... don't hold your breath.
