Acrobat duplicates text in text box, but deleting removes one copy until clicking other box

Very weird issue.

When clicking in a text field that has text entered already, Acrobat will what looks like duplicates the current text over the top. When you press backspace to delete the text, it will remove one the duplicates characters, but it leaves the other copy in the text box still. But if you click into another box, it will remove the text that was deleted.

So if you enter the word "text" into an empty text box, it will show the word text as normal. But then if you click in another text box and then go back to the text box with the word text in it, it will put the word text over the top of the word text again. And if you delete for example "xt" from text, it will show "text" but also a copy of "te" over the te in text. Then if you click in another box, the text will then just show "te". So it does delete the text you've deleted but only shows the result after clicking in another box.

It's not a duplicate field issue and the program used is Adobe Acrobat version 25.02.05 on an ipad.

This sounds like there are two fields with the same name one on top of another, which are therefore duplicates of one another.

The reason the text doesn't change in the second field is that the value is only "applied" to the field when you exit it.

If you could share the actual file with us it would be easier to say for sure whether this is a bug in the application, or a problem with the file, though.

It's not a duplicate text box as they're forms that other users access from the same repository and don't have the same issue with. Unless Acrobat is duplicating the text box but that's still the same issue. It's happening on all the PDF's the user opens also.

This sounds very much like an issue identified in Acrobat for Android: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/split-text-on-pdf-forms-from-android-app/m-p/15224490

Does it only happen on an iPad?

This user only uses an iPad but there are other users that use laptops, desktops, ipads and iphones who don't have the same issue.

Try to reinstall the Acrobat, if that doesn't help try another app and check if issue persist.
