Acrobat (version 24.1)
Unable to use tools in edit window, it is black with a white box in the middle.
Then started freezing when opening a file.
Things I have done.
End all sessions: https://account.adobe.com/security
Uninstall acrobat.
Restart
Reinstall Acrobat.
Still experiencing the issue where I cannot edit a PDF.

Any ideas on how to fix, that is all my tricks.

Hi @paul_0281,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble with Acrobat and using the menu items.

Do you still see the issue?

If yes, would you mind sharing the information as requested by Tariq above?

Also, you might want to try disabling Sandbox Protection once from the preferences. Steps here:

Go to Acrobat > Menu > Preferences > Securiy (enhanced) > uncheck "Enable Protected mode at Startup" > Restart Acrobat > check again.

Please let us know your findings. Also, ensure that the app is running on the latest version (2025.001.2047x) for the best experience.

Regards,
Souvik.

Hi @Lisa305993956kmr

Sorry for the troubled experience and delayed response.

I'm following up to check if your issue is resolved. Are you using Acrobat on a Windows or Mac machine?

Ensure Acrobat is updated with the latest available updates. To check for pending updates, launch Acrobat > Help > Check for Updates,

If you are still experiencing this issue, please provide us with more information so we can assist you better. We would like to know the following details:

  • Screenshot or a video of the problem
  • Acrobat version installed. And Operating system and version
  • Since when this issue started to occur.

We aren't experiencing such an issue on our end; I tried. Once we have the above-requested details, we will try again, and if need be, we will request your assistance. We may also schedule a meeting to check on your machine for this issue.

I am having the same issue as well, I closed the PDF I was working on and reopened it and it the edit section returned to normal. I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for Mac.

I just recreated the issue again. It happens when you click on the gear in that edit window. I. have to close all the PDFs and reopen them again for it to fix. My updater says its running.
