Acrobat Express -- How to Use on the Desktop?

I’m new to Acrobat Express but fairly familiar with the old desktop Acrobat Standard.  I know Adobe is not keen on User Guides or Reference Manuals, but I need something like that to learn how to use this new tool for desktop PDF handling.

I can already see that essential PDF tools, such as editing, organizing, etc., are missing from this version.  I have no interest in the AI assistant, nor in any of the flashy graphic production that it seems to feature.  This seems to leave me with only the ability to open some image files (e.g., scanned output) and export them as PDFs (from which MS Word can take over to make them editable); or with a substitute for Acrobat Reader to open PDFs.  This doesn’t seem worth paying $110/year unless I’m missing something!?

I don’t want to spend $240/year for Acrobat Pro, though that seems to be what’s required to do what I used to be able to do with the old Acrobat Standard 2017!  Is there and upgrade path (without loosing the money I’ve already dropped on the year subscription) to Acrobat “Standard?”

You probably have to call her Adobe customer service or sales. I’m sure they won’t have any problem upgrading you to a more expensive subscription 😊

If you’re really thrown for a loop by the new Acrobat interface, try going to the View pull-down menu and select the Disable new Acrobat menu command.

This doesn’t give you access to all the latest AI features in Acrobat. But for the regular day-to-day things you’ve always done, this should get you back to a comfortable set of tools and interface. When you need to switch back for the latest features, you can use the View>Enable new Acrobat menu command and feel free to switch back and forth as you need to make life easier on yourself.

    Hope this helps,

Randy -- There does not appear to be any such option in Express.  Am I missing something?

I’m trying to find a screenshot of the Acrobat Express interface to compare, and I’m not having any luck.

Are you running Acrobat Express through your browser? On the desktop version versions of the “new interface” there’s an icon with three horizontal lines (often called a “hamburger menu”) other three dots up to the upper right of the screen window. I can’t testify exactly how that appears in Acrobat Express.

I may or may not be steering you right here. But you may have to dive deep into your Acrobat Express interface to find whether or not that is the case.

Why not split the difference between Pro and Express, and go with Acrobat Standard since you are familiar with it (using US prices)?

Dave -- I think that’s the correct choice.  But, looking at my account, I don’t see an option to replace Express with a higher level (e.g., Standard).

Is there an upgrade path that re-uses what I’ve already spent on this 1-year subscription?
