Acrobat Express vs. Acrobat Standard -- Desktop Features?

I was planning to subscribe to Acrobat Standard, but the Adobe sales rep talked me into the new Acrobat Express to save money but without a feature comparison available yet on their Web site.  Now I’m completely lost in this new software.

One of the main features I wanted was OCR, which Standard seems to offer on the desktop, but Express seems to be pushing me off to the Cloud version (included) for that and other services.  I have no intention of using the cloud; I want the advertised features local on my desktop.

Can somebody please explain what the how to get OCR of scanned documents on Express?

Acrobat Express and Standard do not include that feature. Only Acrobat Pro or Studio.

WOW! -- Much better intercomparison than I or the salesman could find, though it still doesn’t seem to mention OCR explicitly.

IMO Adobe seems to be trying to camouflage the fact that this important feature, which used to be in Standard (e.g., Acrobat Standard 2017 -- permanent license!), has been moved to Pro (subscripition only) only.

It does, but it doesn’t call it OCR.

Boxes are Standard, Pro, Express, and Studio. As mentioned, only Pro and Studio have the feature you asked about.
