Acrobat Extension in Chrome in MacOS – keys for zooming not obeying keyboard layout in software

So the physical keys to press to zoom a PDF in and out is the same even if I switch to an ISO layout in the OS. This means that if I have a physical keyboard with ISO layout I have to press ⌘+ to zoom out(!) and ⌘´ which makes sense on an ANSI keyboard because there those keys correspond to + and - respectively.

In the Adobe Acrobat Reader app the keys to use for zooming follows the keyboard layout set in the OS – would be great if the Extension in the web browser also could do that to make using it more consistant with the app.

Hi

Sorry for the delayed response.

Thank you for sharing your detailed observation regarding the keyboard shortcuts for zooming in and out in the Adobe Acrobat Reader extension. I understand how important consistency between the desktop app and browser extension is for your workflow, especially when working with different keyboard layouts.

You’re absolutely correct—the desktop app adheres to the keyboard layout set in the OS, while the browser extension currently follows the physical key mapping of an ANSI layout, which may cause confusion when using an ISO keyboard.

This feedback is incredibly valuable. While the browser extension's current behavior might not match the app, I will make sure to pass along your suggestion to the product team. Aligning the browser extension’s shortcuts with the OS keyboard layout would certainly improve the user experience and ensure consistency across platforms.

In the meantime, as a workaround, you could try using the browser’s zoom functionality (e.g., Ctrl/ and +/-) to adjust the display, though I understand this isn't the ideal solution.

If you have any additional feedback or questions, feel free to share them. We’re always looking for ways to improve your experience!
