Acrobat has suddenly stopped launching

Went to launch Acrobat desktop this morning and it simply will not launch no matter how I try to launch it. Worked just fine yesterday. Got online to google a solution and did the whole, Adobe Cleaner and reinstall app, and still nothing. I’ve tried this twice being sure to reboot my computer along the way. Tried to reinstall it through Creative cloud and by downloading the online app and no luck. Any advice would be appreciated. On a MacBook running OS Ventura.

Could you please share the following information requested by the product team for further isolating the issue and the root cause?

Collect the Crash logs from the affected machine. To collect the logs, please use the tool from this article, and follow the steps: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/collect-logs-crash-freeze.html
The log collector tool will generate a log ID and share it with us.
Please share the GUID present in the plist file located at (~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.crashreporter.plist).
GUID will be alphanumeric.

Also, try updating the Mac OS, installing all the mandatory and optional updates related to the OS, restarting the machine, and trying to launch Acrobat.

Dear all, I finally managed to solve the issue - upgraded my Ventura to its latest version 13.7.8 and Acrobat now works.

Thank you for coming back to share what worked for you; that's genuinely helpful for everyone else dealing with this.

For everyone still stuck: it's worth checking your macOS Ventura version first. You can go to Apple menu > About This Mac to see your current version. Precious_Moon73ad's fix was updating to Ventura 13.7.8, the latest available Ventura release. If you're on an earlier build, you can just try updating via System Settings > General > Software Update, restarting your Mac, and then try launching Acrobat again.

If you're already on Ventura 13.7.8 and Acrobat still won't launch, please let us know here. We'd still like the diagnostic logs and a screen recording. Since Acrobat isn't opening, the article we shared earlier also includes an alternate method for gathering the logs: https://adobe.ly/4A72jq9. Please use that alternate method and share the logs with us here or via private message.

Hi, I am in this same situation - tried everything you have done & it's still not launching. Also running MacBook pro OS Venture.

Stopped working yesterday.

I am in the exactly same situation. Also deleted all .plist files and adobe reftovers between countless uninstall and reinstall and nothing. Spent my whole day with it. (Ventura, M2, MacBook) Any advice?

I too am in the same bucket with this issue happening. It started yesterday morning and I have done the uninstall, run cleaner tool, restart computer, reinstall Acrobat, same issue of not fully opening the app. I’ve tried in safe mode as well, no fix. I will see if reverting to an older version helps but this is insane that a program I have relied on for years all of a sudden is inoperable and obviously this is being experienced by many other people.

Adobe, figure out what happened within the past 24 hours to this application!

I reverted to an older version, which was working, except since I am a have a paid Pro account, it wanted me to upgrade to get the full set of tool and features. After the upgrade the whole program stopped working again. There is something wrong with version ‘AdobeReader2600221901’. The older version I got to work, albeit without the full suite of tools, was ‘AcroRdrSCADC2400420272_MUI’, which I have gone back to so I can at least open PDFs until the new version is fixed. If you want me to revert back to the new version, in order to provide you with a log, provide the steps I need to take to get you the log you need, please.

You are asking us to provide you with a log from within Acrobat, but the issue is that we cannot launch Acrobat, therefore we cannot provide the log you seek. We are going around in circles here. I too am on a Mac running Ventura, so this seems like an issue with Acrobat running on Ventura OS.

I had to uninstall the most recent version and go find an older version to install. Works fine now.

Since you already tried the Cleaner Tool and a fresh reinstall, I’d check macOS itself next.

On Ventura, go to System Settings > General > Login Items and make sure the Adobe Creative Cloud login item is enabled. Adobe says disabling this can affect Creative Cloud apps and their background services.

I’d also check Activity Monitor for any stuck Acrobat, AcroCEF, or RdrCEF processes, quit them, then try launching Acrobat again.

If it still won't open, I’d try creating a temporary macOS user account and launching Acrobat there. If it works in the new account, that would point more toward something in the original macOS user profile rather than the Acrobat installation.

Nothing of this works with the current Acrobat/Ventura problem.

Are you on a Mac or Windows machine, and what is the version?

Do you get any error message while launching the app, or is it not starting at all?

Restart the computer once, and try launching Acrobat.
