Acrobat is crashing on Mac Big Sur

I am on a Mac running Big Sur (11.6) and have Acrobat DC (build 2021.007.20096). I rely heavily on Acrobat DC for my job and simply launching the app causes it to crash. There is no specific action or file that causes the crash. Any use of the app at all results in the "not responding" notation in the Force Quit Applications dialogue window. I have deleted the app and reinstalled. I have sent the resulting reports to both Apple and Adobe. Please address. Thank you.

Correct answer Amal.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that. Please check for any missing/pending update for the computer OS and try updating it and check.

Also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

Also please go through the help page - https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html

Hi I am having the same issue with my 2020 iMac running Big Sur 11.6  and my Adobe Acrobat (via subscription) is up-to-date version 21.0. As soon as I open a PDF, launching it from the pdf to the default Adobe Acrobat, it launches, then a few seconds later the whole computer crashes and restarts.  When it asks if I wish to restore Adobe  documents, I choose 'no'.

Please address the issue, thank you .

Thank you.  I've updated to the latest version - Monterey.  I hope Apple addresses the issue of Auto-Update the OS, when Auto-Update is checked.  I tested a few PDF's and so far so good.  No crashes so far. Thank you for your help.

I am having the same issue on Big Sur/11.6, with the same build. This started last week out of nowhere - I have restarted my laptop and uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat multiple times with no discernible or lasting results. I was unable to change the preferences file, I don't have extra plug-ins or extensions, and all of my other Adobe apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, Captivate, InDesign) work fine.

I use Acrobat almost all day for work, and this is highly problematic. To quote my fellow user, "Please address."

Hi there

We are sorry to hear that

In addition to the above steps, please try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there.

Also make sure you have the recent version 21.07.20099 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Hi Harold

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that. As described the application is crashing on launch.

As you have the most recent version of the application, please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described in the help page - https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/m-p/4792082 and see if that works for you.

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

Also check out the steps shared in the help page - https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html

Amal

I am having the exact issue on my Mac M1 (Big Sur 11.6). It is very frustrating.
