Acrobat Is Impossibly Slow

Acrobat has become impossibly slow.  It is taking 40 seconds or more just to open or close a small file.

I've repeatedly contacted Adobe for help.  Twice, tech support has uninstalled Acrobat and reinstalled it for me.  The "fix" lasts only a few days before the problem occurs again.  I am so angry about this that I have written twice to Adobe's CEO, hoping that he will refer the matter to someone who can provide a permanent fix.

I'm working in the older interface on a Mac, because the new interface is so horrible that I will never try it again.  Adobe did customers an extreme disservice by moving the tools and commands for the new interface.  It was so difficult to find anything that I couldn't get any work done.

Hi Souvik,

See the screenshot below for what I’m running after my last tech support call ..

Your Adobe Case ADB-39187759-G8G7

The person I spoke with last time already ran Acrobat cleaner and manually removed a bunch of files before reinstalling Acrobat. The “fix” lasted two days before I began having problems again.

At the moment, the problem is intermittent. At its worst, it happens with every file, no matter the file size. I can’t make a screen recording of the event when it’s not happening. But you might want to see if the person who helped me on the previous tech support call observed the problem during the time he was viewing my screen. (I don’t remember whether he did or not.)

I don’t know how to gather logs. However, I’m enclosing copies of my two recent letters to Adobe’s CEO for more details.

Hi @jilll47525288,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble with viewing files on Acrobat.

Would you mind sharing a few more pieces of information for further investigation:

1. The app version of Acrobat you use (go to Acrobat-> About Acrobat Pro DC;

2. Is it with a specific file or with all the file? If with a specific file, would you mind sharing the file with us to test in-house;

3. A screen recording of the event for better understanding;

4. Please help us gather logs from your machine: https://adobe.ly/4l1gBRA. You can upload logs using this tool and share your Unique log ID with us.

5. Please run the Acrobat cleaner tool https://adobe.ly/4cavxJ8, reboot the computer once, and install the application using the direct link https://adobe.ly/4cxNxxD and see if that works for you.

Regards,
Souvik.
