Acrobat is slower than loading a pdf onto dropbox and using the dropbox viewer to view my PDF's

Has anyone found a way to make this program not absolutely terrible waste of time and useless?  I literally can't get it to do anything other than crash constantly or lag for 10 minutes after each time I try to open a multiple page pdf document.   I had CS4 until It finally phased out and I had to get creative cloud but acrobat for simple PDF viewing is 90% of what I use the creative suite for and it has become so much of a waste of time and useless that I need to find a software that actually works.  

The only help Adobe offers is this forum so I am hoping someone knows how to fix it.  It is not my computer, I am able to run all of my other far more cumbersome software seemlessly like Lumion, AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, it is only Acrobat that is unfiltered toilet water.

    p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
