acrobat locks up when scanning

I am using acrobat for the first time on a new computer. When I try to scan a document I keep getting an error message: first error says "bad parameter", then the second time I try to scan I get the message that a scan is already in progress. Acrobat then locks up and won't let me exit the program. I have to restart to force acrobat to close by restarting my computer. Any suggestions? I am running windows 10 and Creative suite 6 Master collection

This might be because of either scanner drivers not installed properly or scanner not connected.

Please go to scan settings first(* icon after any preset of Default settings options). Make sure all values(like resolutions/page size etc.) are selected properly. Also, you can try some troubleshooting options available in the link https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-scanner-issues-acrobat.html.

Acrobat you are using may also be not compatible with windows 10. So I suggest you to please use the trial version of latest Acrobat DC- https://acrobat.adobe.com/in/en/free-trial-download.html. And see if you are able to scan without any issue.

Thanks.

Hi JLHill117,

I'm a Mac user so I can't be too certain about what I'm about to say but Acrobat by itself cannot do any scanning. What it can do is to use the scanning software that comes with your scanner.

Next, I'm not sure how functional CS6 is with Windows 10, it might be too old to work with Windows 10.

Last, since you are using CS6, have you updated the scanning software that came with your scanner? One way to test this is to locate the software that came with your scanner and see how it works by itself (not with any other application including any of the Adobe applications).

If it doesn't work, that might be the issue. At a minimum, see if there's an update for your scanning software.

If it works, than it's possible that the links for Windows 10 and Acrobat Pro and the software might not be all that compatible and you may have to bite the bullet and upgrade to Adobe CC. If that's not possible, can you revert back to Windows 7?

Please let us know how things work out.
