Bonjour,

Liza

Hello Liza!

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

Could you please share more details about the issue? Is it specific to a PDF, or does it happen when you compare any two PDFs? Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20474 (Win) | 25.001.20476 (Mac), Apr 28, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again. For more information, see this: https://adobe.ly/4k855mv

Reset Acrobat's Preferences: Quit Acrobat. Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/ and locate the file https://adobe.ly/4d3ogeQ.plist.

Move this file to the desktop. Restart Acrobat; it will generate a new preferences file.

Open the PDFs in Acrobat, save them again as Adobe PDF, and then try comparing. Let us know if you still receive the error message.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hello Anand Sri,

Thank you for your answer.

I installed the latest version (I didn't know that I had to do that via the Acrobat's Menu, I thought Creative Cloud install the latest version), but I still can't compare PDF (I tried with several PDFs, but again the same message).

I am sorry, I don't understand how to reset the Acrobat's Preferences... How to navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/ and locate the file https://adobe.ly/4d3ogeQ.plist. ? (Mac is totaly new to me).

Thank you for your help.

Liza.

Hello Liza!

Thank you for sharing the details. Please check this article for the steps to reset the preferences: https://adobe.ly/4jEdn5v

Here is one more discussion from the Apple support community: https://adobe.ly/3RQMgrW

First, reset the preferences and then restart your machine. After that, check if the issue persists. If it does, use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to completely remove the installed Acrobat. Once the removal is complete, restart your machine and then reinstall Acrobat. After installation, try comparing the files.

If you encounter the error message after the fresh installation, download and run the log collector tool. Make sure to select all log options. Next, compare the two files to reproduce the issue. Once you've done that, close the log collector tool; it will generate logs and a log ID. Please share these details with us in this thread.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
