Acrobat Pro 25.001.20643 Optional update, Aug 25, 2025 - fails to install, corrupt cabinet file

Hello. In an attempt to fix the "combine files" context menu bug introduced by a recent update, I have tried to install the 20643 optional update that supposedly resolves the problem. I'm using the 32bit version. The installer fails with "error 1335. The cabinet file PCW_CAB_ACR  is corrupt." Please provide a working installer that has been tested and which will resolve the combine files bug. Thanks, Colin.

Hi @Colin Butcher

Apologies for the inconvenience.
Could you please try performing a repair and then retry the patch update?
Also, kindly share the MSI logs from the local temp folder. You can enable MSI logging by setting the following registry key:

Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Type: Reg_SZ
Key: Logging
Data: voicewarmupx

Thank you,
Nandini

Hello Nandini,

The registry key for logging is currently set to "iwmoe". There was no MSI log file in the temp directory.

The optional patch installation fails on two machines. Both run Windows 10 Pro for workstations.

I can work around the combine bug in the explorer shell by starting Acrobat and combining files within the Acrobat application.

I don't really have the time to try other potential solutions, such is a repair or reinstall.

I can wait until the next patch release, which will hopefully be thoroughly tested berore it is released.

@Colin Butcher Honestly, you might have gotten a bad installer or a corrupted installer in other words. I would 'uninstall' Acrobat Pro, and then download and run Adobe Cleaner Tool which will fix many common problems (such as removing old Adobe software, cleaning corrupt installation files, and fixing your host files to establish a connection with Adobe servers). Once you run it, and after it finishes it, I would go back to Adobe.com or the Creative Cloud Desktop App and download a 'fresh' installer. No, I would NOT use the same installer that you used. So, download a new one and reinstall it
