Acrobat Pro Copy and Paste issues

I have been working on a collectin of forms for my customer. The base form is created with combination of text fields, radio buttons and check boxes. I have to manipulate the content to squeeze some barcodes on the form and put some simple text for automation. I get the first form built and save it. I open it and save it under a new name, then make adjustments to it. The copy and paste works 50% of the tiime when I am copying the barcodes or text from one form to another. It does not make any sense. I have closed acrobat and reopened it so i have just 2 forms open, my source and new form. I tell it to copy with formatting, it shows the status box in the bottom corner that its copying to clipboard. I try pasting to the same document and no joy. I have gotten in the habit of trying to paste to the same document i am copyng from to confirm it has the correct item. Sometimes it is pasting the fields i copied several minutes earlier. Why is this so inconsistent?

When copying, you need to be very careful to ensure that only form fields are selected, as any annotations or other items that slip in will screw things up.

Alternatively, you can use the "Replace Page" function, which only replaces the page layout, leaving the form fields in place.
