Question

Acrobat Pro DC Crash after using Actual Text

Acrobat Version: Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2019.012.20036

Word: 2021 LTSC

Acrobat will crash if I modify an element's actual text property and then try to copy any other text in the document. This happens about 95% of the time. After copying, Acrobat will display the loading symbol for a few seconds and then crash. This happens for most elements, but it nearly always occurs with list items.

Another issue - Once I modify the actual text, the selection is offset from the cursor. For example, if I select the bottom list item it might select the one above it instead. This is not an OCR issue as all documents were manually exported from word with tags and selecting works properly before modfying the actual text. I'm assuming this is related to the first issue.

I've tested this with year-old word docs and with the 2021 version of word.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello @Jonathan Shull

I appreciate you getting in touch and I hope you're doing well too.

I noticed that you're currently using an older version of Acrobat Pro. To ensure you have the best experience, I recommend updating the application to the latest version, which is 23.03.20284. You can easily do this by going to the "Help" menu and selecting "Check for Updates." After updating, please remember to restart your computer to complete the process.

If you prefer, you can also manually download the update patch from the following link: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

Please let us know how the update goes and if you encounter any issues or have any questions. We're here to help and assist you every step of the way.

Regards
Amal

Thanks for the response.

I should be able to update it sometime next week. I'll let you know if that fixes the problem.
