Acrobat Pro DC crashes when using external monitor

Question

Several of us at our company markup large documents with comments for editors to change. We use Acrobat Pro DC (last year and current year's versions) on both Macs and PCs and all with external monitors. Acrobat crashes or freezes if we seem to breathe wrong. I did notice that if I keep the PDF on my laptop screen, it doesn't seem to crash. Is it a fluke or is there some truth in not putting the PDF on an external monitor?
