Acrobat Pro DC: Possible to Hide Completed Comments

In previous versions of Acrobat (9 worked wonders) it was possible to filter the comments in a document (eg: Status = None) and then as you are going through and marking the comments as "Completed" the list of comments would automatically hide the completed comments for you.

Is there a way to achieve this in Acrobat Pro DC either natively or via a script/whatever?

Aw man! I didn't even consider that as the checkmarks have been hit and miss in the past. (They don't always stick around when saving and someone else opens the PDF. Or they always disappear...?) But that should work for my individual use at least.

Not the exact solution but a useful compromise.

Ah yes, in Acrobat, users can't see each other's checkmarks. But there's a script that will fix that. It will mark marked (by others) comments as also marked by you. Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat/Reader -- Comments Review Tools

Hello again. It's me! The original poster ThePJN.

Stuff got kind of busy and I hadn't checked back on this. I wasn't aware it had been marked as "solved".

 

In the meantime I had been still using my good old copy of Acrobat Pro 9. With it's silkly smooth ability to hide comments marked as "completed" live as you change the status. Perfection! Just set the filter to "None" and any comment marked as "Completed" would disappear. No fuss or confusion.

 

Now I've recently had to upgrade my OS and Acrobat 9 no longer works for me... I'm stuck with Acrobat Pro DC. And I'd just like to say that I DON'T consider this SOLVED. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but checking the checkboxes and filtering them out live works every 2 out of 10 times I try to work on a PDF. Sometimes it'll work and hide the first few comments that are checked but then stop filtering.

 

Where is the utility in not having this just work properly? If my PDF has hundreds of comments why am I forced to look at and wade through the comments I've already dealt with? Adobe wants us to eat sunflower seeds and leave the spit out shells all over our couches. That's insane! Any normal person would dispose of them as they go so they don't have to be concerned with the mess while continuing.

 

Thanks everyone for their help and stuff but we still need more help on this I feel. Either a better way of scripting around this OR better yet an actual solution from Adobe.

    Yes, click on the Funnel icon and choose which status you want to filter out. You have to have at least one comment with a status set to other than None in order for that option to be available.

    Thanks DocGeek. I'm with you there. That's no problem. Trouble is if I have a PDF with a few dozen/hundred corrections the comments aren't hidden as they are marked completed with the filter on in the new version(s) of Acrobat. In previous versions they would be.

    I'd like to be able to set the filter to "None" and then have the comments auto-hide as marked "Completed". At present the best is turning the filter on and off sporadically to get the list down to something manageable as you go.

    On the right track though.

      If you're open to using checkmark status instead of Set Status, then they will autohide as you check them off.
