Acrobat Pro Has Troubles Opening and Displaying Large PDF files

I work at a professional printer and we use the Adobe Creative Cloud for our file creation. Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator being our main programs for file creation and Acrobat Pro to manage our final pdf files.

Acrobat Pro has a difficult time simply opening and displaying our final pdf files. Sometimes the monitor flickers like a strobe light. Other times the image only display about an inch then just stops. Sometimes the pdf completely draws out, only to redraw and then fail to fully display.

We have to constantly quit and relaunch the program just to get the program to open and display our pdf files. It shouldn’t feel like we have to trick the program or that it is an accomplishment just to get a pdf file to open.

We have tried all of the display settings in the preference panel, but nothing helps. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
