Acrobat Pro - keeps grabbing focus when combining

On Windows 10 (with latest Acrobat Pro) I'm creating a PDF from multiple image scans - but, once the images are loaded and I start to combine the scans, Acrobat takes over every few seconds (even if on a different desktop screen in Windows 10). 

Thsi means that, for the 2-5 minutes it's taking to combine the pages, I can't do anything as Acrobat grabs focus every few seconds.

Windows is a multitasking environment and I want to be preparing the set of images for the next document while the combining is going on - but I can't, and this is doubling the time it's taking to prepare a large number of these files.

Is there any way of working around this? Or is this a bug that needs reporting?
