Question

Acrobat Pro locked me out of document mid-edit

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro Version 2023.006.20360 on MacBook Pro with OS 11.7.10, I was marking up a 36mb 400-page PDF using highlighting and comment boxes. Suddenly the content of most of the 400 pages disappeared and Acrobat would not let me save the edits, saying "The document could not be saved. Bad parameter." Nor would it let me reopen the original document or capture the autosaved versions. All work since opening the document was lost. After reading all the community's complaints, I don't have great confidence restarting this project. I may use handwritten edits on paper and scan to pdf for emailing. First time Acrobat has failed me like this.

Sorry for the late response. All the messages from Adobe community went into my spam folder.
I had to restart the document a few times. Got into the habit of saving after every single change and eventually got through it okay. Still frustrating that the toolbars appear in different formats from one time to the next. Hard to figure out what determines how tools are arranged. It's all the same version of the same software! Maybe if I used it daily I'd find it easier to work with. The end result was great, but a lot of challenges.

Hi @eh21750509

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

The error 'Bad Parameter' indicates a corrupt PDF file. Please try to recreate the PDF from the source file and see if that works.

You may also try the steps provided in the help page https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/bad-parameter-while-deleting-pages-in-acrobat.html and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards

Amal
