Question

Acrobat Pro slows down when combining files

The company I work for just upgraded to version 20.009.20067 (on Win 10) and it REALLY crawls when combining files.
I sometimes have to combine 500 files or more and it is taking forever.

The previous version (I'm not sure what it was) just zippped along and didn't seem to slow down at all.  Is there something that I can do to make it pick up the speed?  I really don't want to have to combine files overnight...

By the way, the list of files I'm working with right now range from 26 - 100 KB.  That's KILObytes, not megabytes so the file size really shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, Acrobat seems to be getting slower and more cumbersome to use with each version. Also, it's not yet 64-bits (on Windows, at least), which makes it even more slow and sluggish compared to other applications. There's nothing we can about it, but complain and hope someone is listening at Adobe...

That's very unfortunate. 😞

Thanks for the quick reply.

I would recommend using another tool to merge the files (such as a command-line utility) and then use Acrobat to optimize it after it's created. Such a tool can combine all files in a folder, for example, or even based on a list of file-names.
