Acrobat Pro unable to delete or cut in edit mod, starting Aug 26, 2026

Acrobat Pro stopped being able to remove anything from a page either using delete or cut yesterday. It does not give any error message, the object just doesn’t go away; when deleting (either with keyboard key or with right-click menu) it acts as if you never gave the command, and when cutting (either with ctrl-X or with right-click menu) it copies the object to the clipboard but doesn’t remove the original. This is only for trying to delete objects, the delete pages function is still working fine. I noticed this starting yesterday afternoon, and a Reddit thread was started this morning where five other users (at the time of my writing this post) are complaining of having the same issue today.

I use the edit function of Acrobat Pro nearly everyday at work and have done so for many years, this is a brand new problem as of yesterday afternoon. I am running Acrobat Pro version 2026.001.21789 | 64-bit on a Windows 11 machine, and this started around 2-3pm Pacific time yesterday (Wednesday August 26).

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble this may have caused.

This has been fixed. If you are still experiencing the issue, please try relaunching the application twice, then keep it open for approximately one minute. This will apply the backend changes and resolve the issue.

Also, try to update the application to the latest version 26.002.21869 released today. In Acrobat, go to Menu > Help > Check for updates. For more information, refer to the following help page: 26.002.21869 Planned update.

With the update to the new version 2026.001.21789 of Adobe Acrobat Pro, objects such as symbols and other vector elements can no longer be deleted in Edit mode. Tables also cannot be deleted. Only text can be removed.

Why is this happening? Is this a bug in the new version that will be fixed in a future update?

I ve seen similar reports where issue affects both Delete / Cut, while copying are still works. Since it started suddenly and no error message, it sounds more like a regression than a file-specific problem. Hopefully, Community can investigate this quickly, since it’s affecting a basic editing workflow.

I’m also having this issue. Do they not test updates before their rolled out? This seems like pretty critical functionality that should show up in testing.

Same Issue. I’m essentially stuck in the mud at work. I can’t delete, copy, paste certain objects. Everything was working perfectly (as it has been for years) until yesterday early afternoon, then it was like somebody shut the water off. Any resolutions yet?

Same - can’t adjust objects in my PDF, and when I try to copy/paste anything on the page, the whole program crashes. Did not start seeing issues until this afternoon. Very inconvenient.

I’m not sure if this is what you mean when you say “adjust”, but I am able to scale objects with the handles and add objects to a page, it’s only removing them that I can’t seem to do.
