Acrobat Reader 2026.002.21869 hangs in Full Screen mode after 3 pages

After the latest Acrobat Reader update to version 2026.002.21869 (was installed Aug. 29, 2026 on my system), full screen mode is hanging after I view the first few (3-4) pages of a document.  I have tried multiple documents and they all exhibit the same problem.  Windows 11 25H2.  The Windows Event Viewer reports the hang.  When this happens, I eventually get the Windows message box that “This application is not responding” and I have to abort.  Also, if I disable all page transitions in Preferences, the hang does not occur.

I have also verified that the same documents work fine in full screen mode on version 2026.001.21789.  So I think there is a bug/regression in this latest version that needs quick attention from Adobe.

The fact that disabling all page transitions prevents the hang, and that the same PDFs work normally on 2026.001.21789, makes a regression in the newer Reader build seem quite possible.

For now, keeping Disable All Page Transitions enabled looks like a good workaround. I’d also check for any newer Reader update, and if the issue continues, collect a process dump while Reader is hung. Adobe recommends creating 2–3 dumps at different intervals when Acrobat/Reader freezes, which could help Adobe identify what is causing the hang.

    Hi datro,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue.

We’ve attempted to replicate the problem on our end, and the PDF opened fine in full-screen mode. To help us investigate this behavior further, could you please provide the following information?

    • Confirm if the PDFs are from a specific source.

    • You mentioned that the issue started after a recent update. Please try repairing the application installation by going to Menu > Help > Repair Installation, and then check again.

    • If you disable the page transition, the issue does not occur. Please see if you can replicate the problem using a PDF that has no transitions added.

    • Share a sample PDF where the issue occurs.

    • Collect logs for the process flow using the steps suggested here: Adobe Acrobat Diagnostics. Once the logs are collected, please share the log ID.

Let us know if you need any assistance.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi

Please note that the hang occurs after paging to the 3rd or 4th page in full screen mode. Opening into Full Screen mode works fine.

“Confirm if the PDFs are from a specific source":

Yes.  I have a large collection of PDFs from LensWork (https://lenswork.com). These are photography-related and are all produced by Acrobat Pro.  So far, all of these PDFs are affected by this problem.  I have other PDFs intended for Full Screen viewing that seem to work fine.

“You mentioned that the issue started after a recent update. Please try repairing the application installation by going to Menu > Help > Repair Installation, and then check again. “

I already did a full Repair.  No change, problem still occurs.

“If you disable the page transition, the issue does not occur. Please see if you can replicate the problem using a PDF that has no transitions added.”

As far as I can tell, the PDFs I have that work OK do not have transitions added.

“Share a sample PDF where the issue occurs.”

    Attached.

“Collect logs for the process flow using the steps suggested here: Adobe Acrobat Diagnostics. Once the logs are collected, please share the log ID.”

There is no menu item anywhere in Acrobat Reader 2026.002.21869 to enable Troubleshooting for collecting Acrobat Diagnostics.

Let me know if you need further information to fix this bug.

    Dave
