Acrobat's rendering of fonts is bad with certain PDFs.  It renders just fine in your competitor's Foxit.

 

Sample of Acrobat's rendering vs. Foxit's:How do I fix this in Acrobat?  Your programmers removed the turn 'Use Local Fonts' off option from the 'rendering preferences' menu.  Thank you.
