Question

Acrobat slow when opening files and freezes when printing

Goodmorning,

We have a customer that uses Acrobat reader for opening and managing pdf files. The customer makes a lot of blueprints for buildings and normally opens these from a network share in the same network. but when opening a file it takes around 50 second to open it, which i would like to fix but is not priortity number one. What really bothers us is that when our customer tries to print a design on A3 or A0 it takes acrobat 15 minutes to come with the printing screen.

What i have tried:

Test the networks speed between the computers and the server with the network share.

Check if the right printer drivers are installed.

Could there be any other reason acrobat is doing this or do you guys now a resolution for our problem?

++ adding a couple of more suggestions:

  • Acrobat and Reader official update  23.003.20244 is now available. This update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader. If you want, you may also manually trigger the update early by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates>reboot Acrobat.

More information about this release is here: Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

  • Update printer drivers
  • Navigate to Acrobat Reader>Preferences (Ctrl+k)>Security (Enhanced)>disable "Protected Mode at Start-up", "Protected View" and "Enhanced Security">OK>close and reopen Acrobat. Reader [windows only]

Note: these changes are only for testing purposes. Once tested, please change it back to the previous setting.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Can you confirm the specs of your computer, the exact version of your operating system and software?

Are you opening the files from a mapped drive (like P: drive) or a synced cloud resource (like OneDrive)?

What is the average size of the files you are using? Are you printing directly to the printer or is the printer connected to the network with a print server?
