Question

Acrobat Standard freezes for 3-4 minutes on startup

Hi,

when I launch Adobe Acrobat Standard, the application opens and is responsive for a few seconds. It then freezes completely and remains unresponsive for approximately 3-4 minutes, after which it unfreezes on its own and works normally for the rest of the session.

How can I resolve this issue?

The problem occurs both when I simply open the program without any specific PDF and when I open a random PDF, the behavior is always the same.

Thank you

Andrea

    Hi Anand,

Thanks a lot for getting back to me! Here are the answers to your questions:

    1. Operating system: I'm on Windows 11.
    2. Acrobat Standard version/build: 2026.001.21691
    3. No, I don't get any error message, the app just freezes and then starts working again on its own after a while, without anything popping up.

I also wanted to mention that I've already tried reinstalling Acrobat 2-3 times, but the issue keeps happening.

Let me know what you think I should try next. Thanks again for the help!

    Cheers,
    Andrea

It sounds like Acrobat may be getting stuck while loading something in the background. You should try updating Acrobat first, then check if disabling unnecessary plug-ins or turning off protected mode temporarily helps. You can also try repairing the installation from Help > Repair Installation. If it still happens, checking if the same issue occurs with a different Windows user profile can help narrow down if it's a settings issue.

    Hello @Andrea,

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble you had.

Could you please share more details about the issue?

    1. Which operating system are you using? A) Windows 10, B) Windows 11, C) macOS.

    2. Which Acrobat Standard version/build is installed? Check from the Menu (Windows) | Acrobat (Mac) > Help > About Adobe Acrobat.

    3. Do you get any error message while the app freezes, and then start working after some time?

Please close the Acrobat app and other Adobe apps, then restart the computer once. Launch Acrobat, and if it gives you an option to select/click on Menu items without freezing, then go to Menu (Windows) | Acrobat (Mac) > Help > Check for updates. Install any pending updates, and restart the computer.

Also, ensure that the operating system installed is updated with the latest available updates.
