Question

Acrobat starts a "Process" for every print. This causes prints to take up to 15-20 mins.

I work for a university and my colleagues are having issues when it comes to printing from Acrobat. Whenever a print is initiated, Acrobat opens a "Process" window and we have to wait until the progress bar reaches 100% in order for the PDF to print. For some of my colleagues, this can take up to 15-20 mins. A temporary solution I set up for them is to open PDFs through chrome and print from there. Is there a way to completley remove this process before printing? Why does it take so long to process 1-4 page PDFs? It's cocmpletly random also, on some PDF's it takes less than 5 secs to process, but on others it takes l5- 20 mins. I have not noticed any patterns on the ones that take 15-20 mins to process, they're all small files, and less than 3 pages each, so I can't say it's taking a long time due to PDF size, since that is not the case. Any help in removing this "Process" helps, or how to bypass it all together.

++ in addition to what is suggested above. Try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Acrobat and Reader official update  23.003.20244 is now available. This update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader. If you want, you may also manually trigger the update early by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates>reboot Acrobat.

More information about this release is here: Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

  • Update your printer drivers as well as windows update.

  • Navigate to Acrobat>Preferences (Ctrl+k)>Security (Enhanced)>disable "Protected Mode at Start-up", "Protected View" and "Enhanced Security">OK>close and reopen Acrobat. [Windows only]

Note: these changes are only for testing purposes. Once tested, please change it back to the previous setting.

Thanks,
